Unit of Assessment

Expedited audits

Shark finning

In December 2011, the MSC Board of Trustees resolved that shark finning (the removal of a shark’s fins and disposal of the remaining carcass at sea) is prohibited in MSC certified fisheries. This project will consider how shark finning is addressed within the Standard to ensure that all relevant areas adequately ensure that certified fisheries are free of shark finning.
