Improvement overview

The explosion of technology and data has fuelled increased expectations for transparency and traceability. Industry and governments around the world are requiring greater visibility and accuracy on data reporting, as part of the efforts to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing as well as seafood substitution.

Current status

To ensure the MSC Chain of Custody (CoC) program remains effective, efficiency and keep pace with global seafood trends, we are seeking solutions to improve supply chain data collection and reporting on product origin.

Planned work

In June 2016, the MSC Executive will meet to present its initial proposal for improvements to the MSC Technical Advisory Board to seek recommendations and approval for further development.
